Ethan Birmingham - First Blog Post

     My name is Ethan Birmingham and I am a journalism major at LBCC. I'm originally from Bend, Oregon, but I recently moved to Corvallis in the fall of last year. I'm a very "outdoorsy" type of person so to speak, some of my favorite hobbies to do are sports, hiking, and camping. I'm taking JN 134 because I believe it is important for my major and because I think the class covers an important part of the journalism field. After I graduate from LBCC/OSU, I'm hoping to pursue a career in sportswriting after I graduate because I have been intrigued by the world of sports from a young age and it's an area I would love to write about. 

My goals for JN134 are 

  1. Capture interesting and captivating photos that can tell a story or at least part of it 
  2. Learn and use new photography techniques to capture better photos
  3. Become more comfortable approaching strangers for potential photos
For my first set of photos, I visited a farmers market on the south side of Corvallis. I first learned about the event online from a list of Corvallis community events and was pleasantly surprised by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. I spoke with the organizer of the event, Cheryl Good, and was surprised to learn that the event takes place right on her property and has been going on since 2014.

 Week 4 Blog Post - October 16th - October 20th  ------ On the Job ------ Katelyn Birmingham works the register at Starbucks on Saturday afternoon.
